Alex is traveling all around the world and visiting the tower productions to install and make service on Blaaholm’s equipment, so maybe you are the lucky one who has met him?
Alex is a boilermaker and his specialty is pneumatics and all the components included in Blaaholm’s tower production. Alex has an outstanding characteristic because he remembers many components in his head. Have you experienced this? It is a big value in problem-solving. Alex thrives best in the dialog with the customers. It can be both support by phone, but also during installation and service tasks.
Alex is solving tasks worldwide
One week, Alex is sitting on a plane to the U.S. to solve a task for Vestas. When the project is 110% finished, Alex is leaving the customer and gets on a plane back home to Blaaholm, Esbjerg. However, it does not take many days before he is impatiently walking around in the workshop and eager to get away again for a new task. And before the colleagues would know, he is sitting on a plane to FrancEole in France to make service on rotators.
“I like meeting the customers and experience that I am making a difference. I cannot leave a project before we have delivered 110%. Traveling, the technical challenges and meeting with the customers is rewarding. I am listening to the customers to understand their precise challenges and needs, and I am thrilled when I can optimize their production” tells Alex.
We are testing and optimizing at our customers
Alex often gets ideas to optimize the production of our customers in terms of his in-depth knowledge and technical know-how in tower production. In a project for a customer Alex experiences that the signal is not working good enough out to the remote control on a rotator. Therefor Alex is suggesting making a test, where the antenna is moved outside of the control panel to test if the signal is getting stronger. The test is accomplished with success. The result was that 60 rotators in the tower production got their antennas moved outside of the control panel, so the rotators can be operated better with the remote control.
Alex finds it exciting to be involved in improving and optimizing solutions. He is participating in pilot projects and building up testing stands. At Vestas Towers in Pueblo, Alex participated in a project for optimizing Flux Recovery systems (see case story about Vestas Towers). “When it succeeds to create good results on the testing stands, it is very satisfying to be a part of the implementation in a full scale afterwards. Everything we do must create value to our customers” says Alex.
The collaboration with the Technical Sales Manager, Jesper Hansen is very good, and Jesper tells about the cooperation: “I trust Alex 100% . He is not coming home before a task is solved. We have the same approach to work, such as the cables in our installation must be straight. Alex is willing when he must travel, and he gets support from his family, too. At our customers, he is well-liked, as Alex has a good approach to the work. He picks up the challenges and he is often capable of solving the challenge onsite.”
A long journey
It has been a long journey for the 47 years old Alex, since he came to Blaaholm in 2010. He originally started in ScanRobot as an intern for 4 weeks, and after a short time went Alex to Blaaholm. At that time there were only 12 employees at Blaaholm. Alex was already a talented technician but without any formal education. Torben Blaaholm and Alex went into an agreement about starting education as a boilermaker in 2011. Alex was dedicated during education and learned a lot about products and services over the years at Blaaholm.
Already in 2013 Alex get associated with welding automation and equipment for tower production as mounting and service technician. Blaaholm is growing and the client base is increasing. Alex became an important operator in Blaaholm’s growth and development, and today an employee, we are really appreciating.
